Terms of Use

Next of Kin is a tool that helps families capture personal knowledge about the people they care for, and make that knowledge available to future carers. It is not a medical records system and is not intended to replace professional care assessments or legal documentation.

You can upload journals, notes, photos, voice recordings, documents, and any other material that helps describe the person you care for. You do not need to upload medical records — we are most interested in the personal, human knowledge that formal systems don't capture.

If you do upload documents that contain medical or clinical information, that is your choice. We will store it securely and it will only be accessible to people you explicitly invite.

Everything you upload belongs to you. We will never sell your data, share it with third parties for commercial purposes, or use it for any purpose other than providing the Next of Kin service to you.

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by writing to privacy@nextofkin.ai. We will action all deletion requests within 30 days.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a GDPR-compliant database provider. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

Only you and the people you explicitly invite as contributors can see your profile and uploads. Carers can be given temporary time-limited access via a QR code that you generate and control. No one at Next of Kin will access your data without your permission except to provide technical support when you have requested it.

Next of Kin uses artificial intelligence to help organise and retrieve the knowledge you upload. This means your content may be processed by AI systems including those provided by Anthropic and OpenAI. These providers are bound by their own data processing agreements. We do not use your content to train AI models.

By creating a profile for another person, you confirm that you have the right to do so — either as their parent, legal guardian, or with their consent where they are able to give it.

You must be 18 or over to use Next of Kin.

We will notify you by email if these terms change in a material way. Continued use of Next of Kin after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
