Every contribution — of any size — moves this forward today. Next of Kin is a for-profit company, and donations go to the company directly. They are not tax-deductible.

What we're working towards

Every donation made today goes to Next of Kin the company, and helps fund this work directly — it is not tax-deductible. We're also looking into forming a separate 501(c)(3), an independent U.S. nonprofit. It doesn't exist yet: no registration, no determination letter from the IRS, nothing to give to today.

Its purpose would be to pay for the AI running costs behind Next of Kin — the ongoing charge every AI provider bills in units called tokens, roughly the chunks of text a model reads and writes for each question and each answer. The point is simple: when the caregiver who built a family's Next of Kin is no longer here, and nobody is paying the subscription any more, the fund would keep it answering the carers who come after. That's the whole point of the product — the knowledge outlives the person who held it.

Why this matters

Next of Kin started with one mother and one son. Ruth has cared for Daniel for over three decades. She knows what his words really mean, what makes him light up, what every new carer gets wrong at first.

One day she won't be there. And when that day comes, the people who care for Daniel will need more than a medical file. They'll need to know who he is.

That's what your donation builds — a way to carry a caregiver's knowledge forward, so the care doesn't start from zero.
